If you don't know where to start building your modular system, you're landed on the right page!
First of all you'll need a proper power supply, with a dual output; it will convert the AC voltage from the power outlet to a DC voltage for your modules. (Here is where you want to spend a bit more money: the power supply is one of the most critical part of your whole system and, if it is very stable, you won't even need the filtering capacitors).
The second thing is a TS-201: the humble and reliable power distribution system.
This power bus is intended to be as electrically invisible as every power bus should be, it only has the 16 pins connectors, LEDs indicating when the rails are correctly powered and some filtering capacitors, to keep under control the noise that may comes from plugged modules.
Other features are the faston connectors, which don't require a soldering iron to be connected to the power supply; the shrouded headers, which are safer than the "white line" when you're about to plug a new module, avoiding reverse polarity scenarios; and the CV and GATE jumpers, to insulate or propagate those signals along the bus.
WARNING: When you plan your modular system, always consider your power supply maximum output current before adding new TS-201 or modules. For systems with many TS-201, filtering capacitors may affect the startup current significantly!
