This is a PCB for the BrewPi-ESP8266 project, which incorporates a SMD-based level shifter. All SMD components come pre-assembled/soldered with this board, meaning you only need to solder the through-hole components.
This PCB is part of the BrewPi-ESP8266 project. The original BrewPi project is an open-source temperature controller for the purpose of controlling beer, mead, and wine fermentation temperatures incredibly accurately, using a small microcontroller (originally an Arduino), a relay, some temperature sensors, and a Raspberry Pi. This project reimplements the open source BrewPi firmware on an ESP8266.
This PCB is designed to allow connecting an ESP8266 to the other hardware necessary to run the BrewPi firmware and control fermentation temperatures for your brewery. This specific board was designed to use a LoLin D1 Mini ESP8266 microcontroller and integrate with a 2-channel relay board and a LCD2004 IIC LCD screen. This PCB supports the use of dupont connectors for connecting the relay and IIC LCD which allows for a much more compact design than if screw terminals were used. This PCB uses SMD components to implement the level shifter required for the LCD2004, eliminating the need for a separate level shifter board. This PCB also includes user-selectable OneWire voltage, enabling a broader range of sensors than previous designs.
This board does not have terminals for directly connecting temperature sensors - it is intended to have an RJ-45 jack soldered on, and then be connected to a separate RJ-45 sensor board via an ethernet cable.
This PCB includes all SMD components pre-soldered to the board. The specific pieces included from the original BoM include:
