Read More…This CPU tester will make the 6502/6502C run the NOP instruction (opcode EA) and cycle through all the addresses. A CPU passing this test will produce a flashing pattern on the three LEDs onboard, connected to address bits A13-A15.
There is also a HALT button for testing/identifying 6502C "Sally" CPUs; when pressed the flashing will pause. It also features a RESET button. Please note that above is a very simple test and will not guarantee a 100% working CPU. But if it fails this test, you can be 100% certain that the CPU is malfunctioning.
It enables easy and fast testing without risking the health of you precious old computer. The test can be run at either 1 or 2 MHz with the supplied crystal oscillators (socketed). The 2 MHz test is suitable for example MOS 6502A or Rockwell R6502AP. The oscillator socket supports both DIP8 and DIP14 formats (5V).
