A hand made pair of earrings made from excess electrical items. The fuses are unused ones from a multi pack - their brothers and sisters (mostly 13A) are in various plugs around my home. These were clearly destined for more fabulous things and couldn't be hidden away. The ear hooks are silver plated to avoid allergies, as are any jump rings used. Solder is lead free. The fuse bodies are coated with a thin layer of resin to make them water resistant (but don't wear them swimming or in the shower). You can add sterling silver ear wires in the options if you prefer.
Even though I may make multiple pairs, because of the way they are arranged by eye and hand soldered, there will be something individual about each piece.
I hate to see things go to waste. Whether they're leftovers from a multi pack, salvaged from obsolete machinery, or obsolete, nothing gets thrown away.
Being part magpie, part decorator crab, I like to fashion these into stuff that you can wear.
In a world of machine made mass produced jewellery and accoutrements, you're buying something unique and handmade, and in doing so supporting a fellow maker.
I travel to maker events across the country and share what knowledge I have for free, but as we all know, nothing comes for free, so by buying this you are contributing to travel and accommodation costs so I can continue what I do!
The tl:dr version: - recycled - saving stuff from landfill - funding maker education - unique.
