A hand made pair of earrings made from excess components. The resistors are unused ones from a multi pack - their brothers and sisters are in a lighting project and a noisemaker. These were clearly destined for more fabulous things and couldn't be hidden away. The ear hooks are silver plated to avoid allergies, as are any jump rings used.
Even though I may make multiple pairs, because of the way they are arranged by eye and hand bent, there will be something individual about each piece.
I hate to see components go to waste. Whether they're leftovers from a multi pack, salvaged from obsolete machinery, or obsolete, nothing gets thrown away.
Being part magpie, part decorator crab, I like to fashion these into stuff that you can wear.
In a world of machine made mass produced jewellery and accoutrements, you're buying something unique and handmade, and in doing so supporting a fellow maker.
I travel to maker events across the country and share what knowledge I have for free, but as we all know, nothing comes for free, so by buying this you are contributing to travel and accommodation costs so I can continue what I do!
The tl:dr version: - recycled - saving stuff from landfill - funding maker education - unique
