What is it?

The PurpleHat track measuring sensor can measure the rotation of an axles equipped with magnets and calculate scale speed, travel distance and more. The rotation is measured by a 3D hall sensor.

The N scale kit consists of following items: - Sensor PCB with hall sensor for vertical installation - Pin header for external battery - 2 neodymium magnets 3 x 2mm

NOTE: The kit does not include the IoTT Stick.

The calculation is provided by an IoTT Stick (sold separately), and the results are shown on the stick display. In addition, the stick can send the results to a web browser to be displayed as speed graph. In Speed Matching mode, the PurpleHat sensor can autonomously analyze the speed characteristics of a locomotive and then calculate the speed table settings so that the locomotive has a defined scale speed for every speed setting on the throttle. This allows for setting speed tables in about 2 minutes per locomotive.

Why did you make it?

The PurpleHat sensor is the result of an ongoing development which finally will result in a Layout Positioning System, allowing for position feedback of the trains without installation of a large number of block occupancy sensors.

What makes it special?

This is a fully functional track measuring device for N scale. It comes with a set of mounting brackets to support several installation options.
