The Sanguino is an Arduino-compatible development board designed by Zach Hoeken at the RepRap Research Foundation. Developed to control open source 3D printers, it has gained widespread use in robotics and hardware hacking thanks to its high specification and ease of use.
Think of Sanguino as the Uno's big brother. Using an Atmega1284P microcontroller it has four times as much flash memory as the standard Arduino chip, 2 hardware UART ports instead of 1, and many more I/O pins for interfacing sensors and outputs. Parallel headers break out the pins in a breadboard-friendly manner. No wonder it's a proven hit with makers and creative types.
