The precipiSTATION is an open source sprinkler controller that uses a Particle Photon as its brain. Since it is designed to drive solenoids, it could also be used in any environment where you are controlling solenoids that require 12-24VAC or 12-24VDC. The 4" x 5" PCB includes:
I made this unit because the sprinklers at my vacation home never seem to work. By using precipiSTATION, I can monitor and control sprinkler activity remotely through an Android app or a web page. I know when it runs via Tweets or events being published. I can control watering at my remote vacation home from from wherever I am on my phone.
It comes as a complete offering, including hardware, firmware, and Android/web software, with documentation and design files on each. Because it uses a Particle Photon, it is easily programmed using the Arduino-compatible Particle web IDE, or on your PC/MAC using the Particle Dev IDE. It can be purchased as just a PCB, or as a turnkey, complete assembly, including PCB, enclosure, transformers, antennas and preloaded-firmware Photon. It has been running my sprinklers for over a year flawlessly.
