What is it?

GBColor Hanhdheld with brand new PCB, new Shell, new OLED Screen, tactile buttons for A&B, and various new components installed for a reliable experience.

Why did you make it?

Staring at my old GBColor that had a corroded Start button for a while, this Project appealed to me because having a basically new GBColor from what was then a piece of junk, was really appealing.
The idea to make something from Scratch is pleasing when the finish project comes out well. The opportunity to install new battery contacts, a new Switch, power Input, volume wheel, Shell and Buttons just felt great to bring back an older item to revisit its' best times.

What makes it special?

The cartridge slot was used with an ultrasonic cleaner and CLR, then washed out with Isopropyl. LED lights were kept original, as well as most small components.
The Motherboard, compliments of PCBWay was fabricated well, making for easy placement and soldering using solder paste to secure each component before melting the parts in to place with a hot air station. I've added tactile switches to the A & B Buttons, for a clicky response unique to the System. It takes a little while to get used to, but feels great after an hour or so of playing. The clean layout of the PCB really does lend itself to a 'new' feeling when playing. Shout out to PCBWay for providing the new PCBs.
The new OLED Screen offers touch screen adjustments, different palettes, the option to change the screen position, and illuminate the GBCOlor Logo with many different Color options.
