JuicyBoard is the base of a modular platform which allows easy hardware customization of control systems for motor based applications like 3D printers, CNC routers, laser cutters or more.
I like designing robotics applications and I went through the pain of searching for the optimum control systems for what I need. There are so many boards but I always need to make modifications (even tiny ones), I need to take off or add something, and blue wiring is very ugly and unreliable. So I decided to make my own platform from the bottoms-up in a way that I can customize my control system without the need to redesign the control board, I can just populate the base board with the functions that I need (like stepper motors, sensors, switches ... etc). I also wanted to make the system compatible with an existing popular firmware, the system runs Smoothieware for CNC/3D printer control, there's some activity in making the system programmable through the Arduino IDE with high level APIs for controlling the modules.
The system makes it very easy for anyone to optimally configure the control system to the need. If the application only needs stepper motors you can populate up to 15 stepper drivers with independent control. Or you can mix and match with extra sensors and switches. One other super advantage of the system is that it makes designing new features very easy, you only need to design an extra module with the new feature and plug it in, without redesigning the expensive control board or changing much in the control firmware.
