A while back I decided to take a go at designing a simple VFD tube clock that could be NTP controlled and on WiFi. This is the end result of that effort.
What makes this design fun was that the tube straddles the PCB versus sitting perpendicular to the board, therefore making it easier to hang on walls or other places. Having an Arduino control the tubes also means it is far easier for people to customize their output.
The two VFD tubes are encircled by 6 NeoPixels, which can increase the level of display customization for yourself.
Upon powering up the clock, it presents a wireless network name that you connect to so that it can be configured to connect to your WiFi network. Then, after connection, visit it's webportal to set the timezone. The WeMos will come pre-flashed with the firmware to drive the clock so that you don't have to fiddle with the Arduino IDE and libs.
