This is the Sidekick64 Multi function cartridge for the C64 and C128 machines that uses a Raspberry pi 3 to give you many amazing features including :
a GeoRAM/NeoRAM-compatible memory expansion, freezer cartridges - Action Replay 4.x-7.x - Final Cartridge 3(+) - Atomic/Nordic Power (experimental) - KCS Power Cartridge - Super Snapshot V5 numerous bank switching cartridges such as - CBM80, C16/+4 and C128 cartridges - Easyflash (with simplified EAPI support) - GMod2 (inclduing EEPROM for save games) - Prophet64 - MagicDesk/Domark/HES Australia - Dinamic - Ocean Type A and B (up to 512k) - C64 Game System - Funplay/Powerplay - (Super) Zaxxon - Comal80 - Epyx Fastload - Simons Basic - RGCD and Hucky's cartridge C64 kernal replacement, Function ROMs on a C128, or multiple SIDs and Sound Expander/FM emulation (up to 8 SIDs, e.g. to play The Tuneful 8) simplified Datel and Sequential MIDI interface with built-in SoundFont-synthesizer (slightly modified version of TinySoundFont) TED-sound and Digiblaster emulation for C16/+4 (to have all sound devices on one output)
While i have not tested all the available funktions i have used the Kernal replacement, the Cartridge loader and the program loaders and those all work great! Its verry easy to configure and has good documentation, if you wish i can email my configuration and you can use/edit that.
It comes with two cables that you need to connect to the CPU and Sid chip if you wish to use the kernal replacement and sid functionality, you can use the Sidekick64 without these but then those two functions will be disabled.
IMPORTANT! : You need a Raspberry PI 3 Model A+ and a SD card with the software, this is not included, but i can email my software configuration to make it easier to set up.
IMPORTANT! Be careful when you connect the two cables so you connect them to the corect pins and also use spacers between the sidekick64 and the raspberry pi to ensure nothing shorts. i take no responsibility if you damage your machine.
IMPORTANT! : There is a jumper on the left side that activates power to the raspberry pi from the C64 cartridge port, this is how i have been using it but i do not recommend it unless you have a new / modern power supply. It can also be powered externally with a USB cable to the raspberry pi but you will then need to remove that jumper. DO NOT POWER THE RASPBERRY PI BOTH FROM C64 AND USB AT THE SAME TIME!
This is a open source project, you can read more about it and download all files here: https://github.com/frntc/Sidekick64
Will send this tracked for both our safety.
