SPI7SEGDISP8.56: Eight digit serial (SPI) seven segment LED display (Yellow)by Embedded Lab
Seven segment LED displays are brighter, more attractive and provide a far viewing distance as well as a wider viewing angle as compared to LCD displays. The major drawback of using seven segment LEDs is they are resource-hungry. Time-division multiplexing is the most common technique of interfacing 7-segment LEDs to microcontrollers. With this technique, an 8-digit seven segment LED display with the decimal point requires at list 16 I/O pins of the microcontroller, which is quite a lot. Consequently, their use with low pin-count microcontrollers (such as PIC12F series) is not practically feasible. SPI7SEGDISP8.56 is our latest version of the MAX7219 based serial seven segment LED display module that will allow you to add 8 digits of seven segment LED displays to your project using only 3 I/O pins, and provides full control of all the digit segments including decimal points. You can even cascade two or more of these modules together without sacrificing any extra I/O pin.
Please note that:
1. You will receive an assembled and tested board.
2. LED displays included in this board emit bright yellow color. If you need red or green color LED displays, there is a separate listing for them. Go to our store to find the right one. It is mentioned in the product title.
Two or more SPI7SEGDISP8.56 modules can be cascaded together easily. Read the document page for further detail.
Important note about shipment
First Class USPS International Package is the standard shipping service that we use for both domestic and international orders, because it is the cheapest shipping option available in the United States. No tracking available once the package leaves the USA.

Yes, we do.
The delivery to Australia was a little slow, but i am very happy with the displays they are clear and with the correct gel used the contrast ratio is fantastic.

USPS First Class International usually takes 2-3 weeks for delivery to Australia. Your order was little bit delayed because these displays were on backorder. I am glad you liked them.

This display works well. The display is bright and easy to read. Programming is straightforward, the only thing to be carefull with is that the SPI interface is 16 bits long, and many micros are 8 bit. So make sure the LOAD pin is separately controlled and stays low for 16 clocks. You cannot use an automatic SS line from an 8 bit port.
