WHAT IS IT?
The BIOT is just a small battery-powered WIFI device that can last up to five years in the field and sends you an email if there is a water leak or a door to which it is attached opens. Also sends temperature updates at regular intervals that you can set. You can also change the port and uplink URL to your own server and do what you want with the POST packets that it sends.
WHY WOULD I WANT ONE OF THESE?
I designed the BIOT just in case people wanted a device with a hall-sensor activated door alarm, resistive divider water sensor, and temperature sensor (thermistor) that runs on batteries and doesnt need a gateway but can talk directly to the wifi router over wifi. Sure, there are other platforms out there by the big guys, but this is good for experimenters. I left some solder points on it for voltage level emailing as well. The dev-site packetpeek is currently a free service but you could create your own server as well with basic PHP and SQL databases.
WHY IS IT DIFFERENT?
Prosensors BIOT is special because you can point it to any URL you want and do your own thing with the data. It is in friendly HTTP POST packets that work with regular old PHP script websites with PostGRE SQL databases if you want.
