What is it?

This is, very simply, a 7" LCD screen with capacitive touch. It appears to be the same as Adafruit's 7" touch screens, except that mine offers capacitive touch, which Adafruit does not offer at this time. Because of this, it is highly compatible with Adafruit's libraries and hardware. I highly recommend their RA8875 driver board to work with this LCD screen, as well as their libraries.

Why did you make it?

I built this because I really liked Adafruit's 7" LCD screen, but the resistive touch really made everything painful. Capacitive touch was necessary. Miraculously, I found an easy-to-use touch panel that fit the display perfectly. Combining these devices has made my project's displays far more enjoyable to use.

What makes it special?

I'll be honest: This is a boring product, and that's what's so awesome about it. It literally just works, that's the whole thing. The compatibility with Adafruit's RA8875 driver board, the easy I2C interface with the touch screen, and available libraries make this a breeze to work with. It doesn't have any special surprises, any nonsense. It just does what it's supposed to do: provide a generous 7" display experience with a very user-friendly capacitive touch panel. That's it!

NOTE: This touch panel requires an FPC connector on your project for you to connect to it. I recommend getting Adafruit's FPC stick and a 6-pin FPC connector to solder to your FPC stick, if you are working on a breadboard or otherwise are not designing a PCB yet.
