Open-source WiFi add-on to control itho central ventilation boxes
Itho sells an add-on module that takes a PWM signal to regulate the speed of the box. It's possible to hookup an ESP module to this PWM input and control the box but I wanted an integrated solution which could be plugged directly to the itho main PCB without further hardware or changes to the box.
One simple add-on module to make your home ventilation box from itho daalderop wifi enabled.
The add-on always fully assembled, loaded with the necessary firmware and tested.
Plug it into the itho, configure wifi/mqtt and you are ready to go.
This second revision adds the possibility to solder a CC1101 RF module on the back side to be able to receive itho remote RF signals. This way you can see the status of RF remote input on the add-on and in your domotica system. The add-on can be ordered without or with CC1101 RF module. If you order it as a kit you have to solder the CC1101 module yourself. There is also and option with the CC1101 module soldered on and fully tested. Please choose when you order.
Itho designed their fans to give preference to RF remotes and build in RV sensors. This means you can use the original remote but this input will not be represented in your domotica system. With the CC1101 module it is possible to connect the remotes directly to the add-on. This will make remote input visible in your domotica system and enables you to control the speeds and timer settings for each button press.
The latest (those with the light grey lid) models of itho units have a built-in humidity sensor. This built-in sensor controls the itho unit and has priority over the add-on and can't be readout reliably. This replacement sensor measures humidity and temperature and reports this to your domotica system. You can then decide for yourself how the itho unit should react to those values.
HRU 200 ECO (also sold as 'Elektrodesign EHR 140 Akor BP' and 'Heatrae Sadia Advance Plus')
Please note that there are different CVE ECO 2 models in circulation. The most important is the 2×4 pin interface that must be present on the itho main PCB (encircled in red on the fifth image). Only if this interface is present the add-on will work.
