Introduction

We have been selling our 60mmx60mm Bi-color LED Dot Matrix Display Driver Module DIY Kit for several years and some customers have requested a similar kit for single color LED Dot Matrix displays.

Similar kits for single color LED Dot Matrix displays are available for sale but most are of a smaller form factor that may not be suitable for some applications. The 60mmx60mm form factor LED Matrix module displays are a good size for viewing from quite a distance away.

The product we have designed here is an 8x8 single color (Blue) LED Matrix (60mm x 60mm) Driver Module DIY Kit.

The LED Matrix Driver Module is driven with a MAX7219 IC and is suitable for use with most micro-controllers including the popular Arduino open-source hardware.

Basic knowledge in electronics and soldering skill is required to assemble the kit as it is designed using only through-hole electronics components.

Assembled LED Matrix Driver Modules can be chained together to make up a longer display.
