After building several nixie clocks, I’ve discovered VFDs. Their iconic greenish blue glow is stunning and I just had to build a clock. It needed to use modern components, be WiFi + NTP based, USB powered, fully programmable in arduino IDE and also be super low profile and look on point.
I’ve designed 3 versions of this clock: IV-6, IV-22 and IV-12. This is the final and largest one. It is based around 6 large IV-12 VFD tubes and of course, it's ESP8266 powered. It's probably the thinnest IV-12 clock available :)
The case is snap-on (screwless), printed from PLA (stone white / volcano black) and easily replaceable if needed. It's designed in the way so that the colon is invisible when off (stone white version). It makes for very unique and distinctive look.
I made only 3 of these, 2 are for sale. So if you want something unique and beautiful, feel free to grab one! Designing this took me forever, so by buying this, you are also supporting future fun projects like this :)
