The hearty backlit badge is a simple interactive badge that is shaped like a heart and lights up when you tap it or move it sharply.
I wanted to make the simplest possible circuit that did something interesting and interactive. I thought for awhile, and came up with this.
The vibration sensing circuit reacts to you organically, lighting up when moved suddenly or when tapped. It is never fully on or off, and is always waiting to react to you. It consumes virtually zero power when left alone, and does not need to be turned off.
It uses just one capacitor, resistor, transistor and switch, one of each of all of the most basic electronic components. It can be fully understood by a beginner, demonstrating how each of the components work.
There are two versions: SAO-powered or battery powered. If you don't know what SAO is, don't worry about it, choose battery-powered.
Choose this one if you don't know what SAO is.
This version comes with a pin back so it is wearable as-is. The SAO header is still present on the board but it is behind the battery holder; you could remove the battery holder if you change your mind later. Also if used as an SAO a 22ohm resistor should be installed in R1.
This version comes without the battery holder or pin back installed. It is meant to be used exclusively as an SAO.
