This board has two 74HC595 shift registers that allows you to control 16 digital outputs using 3 pins on your Arduino! These boards were designed to be chained together so you can continue to expand the number of outputs by multiples of 16!
The shift registers require three pins of the Arduino to operate: Clock, latch, and data. In addition to these pins, the board also allows optional use of the shift registers' Output Enable pin that gives you PWM control that affects all outputs on each board.
The board comes assembled with two 74HC595 shift registers.
Headers are not included.
You can use Pin #6, the Output Enable pin, for PWM control that affects all 16 outputs on the board. If you do not need any PWM control, simply connect Pins #6 and #7 together.
Chain additional boards to the right. Connect the pins straight over, but consider whether you want to chain the Output Enable pin (Pin #6) or use the Output Enable pin on each board individually.
An external power supply is recommended when chaining boards together.
