This BNO080 high-precision IMU board significantly improves motion sensing performance over any IMU on the market, and greatly simplifies the effort on making it work with your system. It provides 3-axis accelerometer/gyroscope/magnetometer sensing data, and the fusion of these data for accurate and drift-corrected rotation/orientation/activity data. In addition, the footprint is directly compatible with popular Arduino boards, such as Pro Micro, Pro Mini and etc. Figure 1 illustrates its graphic datasheet together with the graphic pin map of Pro Micro and Pro Mini. Directly aligning and soldering them together produces a powerful and complete IMU motion tracking system.
Get the Arduino-IMU system to work is super easy. Following the steps below and you will have the world's most precise, accurate and portable IMU motion tracking system.
Step 1: Get all the parts ready, including a. MovSens BNO080 breakout; b. Pro Micro (5V/16MHz) or Pro Mini; c. a pair of 12-pin single-row connectors; d. a Micro USB cable;
Step 2: Align the IMU board with the Arduino board correctly and solder them together with the pin connectors. (The pin maps are aligned naturally, but make sure both boards are facing the same direction, not flipped upside down.)
Step 3: Connect the soldered device to your computer with a USB cable. Open the Arduino, select the correct arduino device and port, then open one of the example programs (e.g. MovSensExample-Quaternion) and download it to the device (you can download the open source arduino library here: https://github.com/movsensllc/BNO080_Arduino_Library). From the serial monitor, you can see the orientation data, in the form of quaternion, is streaming. To view the orientation intuitively in 3D, you can use our "MovSens 3D Orientation/Rotation Viewer" software, as shown in the video.
