This adapter lets you easily use a Wii nunchuck in your project. The Nunchuck communicates over I2C and is a real value for what it costs -- wholesale Nunchucks are $2.50 in quantity from China, and that gets you 2 buttons, an X/Y joystick and 3-axis accelerometer.
Nunchucks are a unique input device and are especially suited for projects involving motor control, fine-grained input, or multiple inputs in a compact package.
We were launching a product that was going to use a Nunchuck as an input and we wanted an adapter that was sturdy and easy to use. That particular project used USB ports as a general data transfer port, so all of these adapters have male USB ports, but will not work in a standard USB port. They can be attached to a female USB breakout board (not included) for general purpose use.
Existing Nunchuck adapters are small PCBs that sit inside of the Nunchuck port without any form of retention. This is not an ideal situation for a device that is meant to be moved around and shaken. Our adapters use the actual Nunchuck connector to create a sturdy connection that can withstand plenty of motion. These also come with a nice 3d-printed case.
