Atmega/ATtiny Chip Cloner Copier Standalone ISP Programmer for programming AVR Devices without a Computer.
**NEW Version 3.2 Just remove jumper J1 to put the AVR Chip Copier in read mode and connect to your AVR ISP circuit. The AVR Chip Copier will read your device and save the data in its' memory. The AVR Chip Copier then operates as a standalone programmer. Great for bulk programming or for updating devices for customers. To program simply install jumper J1 and connect to your AVR ISP circuit. Now the programmer is in write mode and will write the memory contents previously read. It's that easy!
The AVR Chip Copier will copy any AVR in the device list below. If the lock bits have been programmed, the AVR Chip Copier will not be able to read the contents. Please don't ask!
Back in 2008, I needed a way to program a solar-powered sensing device on my property 350' away from any power source. I did not want to bring my expensive laptop outside every time, nor did I want to bring all the cables, power supply, etc. So I developed the first version, and from there were 4 more versions this one being the latest with support for more devices.
You do need a computer to set it up initially. Once set up, it runs from the target power and will program as many devices as you want. The data is stored in the programmers' memory until it is erased. I have used this programmer a thousand times because of its' simplicity and reliability.
