The USB Adapter allows you to change the configuration of your Sensible living sensors. It lets you talk directly to the sensor module and adjust its settings. It works the same as the popular FTDI Basic ® board but uses the CH340G chip and is less expensive. As you can see from the images above the Desktop App has a built in Sensor Management console to make fine tuning of your sensors simple and easy.
From time to time I have customers that want to customize their sensors. For example there are features in your Sensible living sensors that are only settable via a USB to Serial adapter. Using the adapter you can change your house code, change the reporting interval, change the module ID etc. On sensors like the Refrigerator/Freezer monitor there is a settable alarm threshold that will cause the sensor to send a message immediately instead of waiting until the hour is up.
Note: This will not work with the Mini Sensors (Mini Temp, Mini-Light, Mini-Tilt, Mini-Plant etc.)
As I mentioned above the USB to Serial Adapter works the same as the FTDI boards but is less expensive.
