The Range Extender is part of the Sensible Living family of wireless equipment. The Extender can be used when the areas you want to monitor are just too far away for reliable operation. The Extender contains both a receiver and a transmitter. It listens for messages from your sensors and forwards them to your receiver. Place it in a convenient location midway between your farthest sensor and your Receiver. Since it must never sleep it is powered from a wall adapter instead of a battery.
The Sensible Living Receiver and Desktop application are designed to work with the Range Extender. Like the rest of the sensor family the Range Extender has it’s own unique Id and reports in hourly so you know everything is working as it should.
Lately I have been adding sensors to my yard and garden. Some of these are just too far away to hear reliably so I built the Range extender. In my case it sits on a window sill at the back of my house to listen to the garden sensors. Now the soil moisture sensors in the farthest corners of my yard are letting me know when the vegetable garden and landscaping need attention. All of my sensors were built to address specific needs around my home and for my family.
