Have you been thinking of starting to use SMD components but are not sure how to solder them? Or do you just want a cool Halloween decoration?
Then this easy-to-solder blinking SMD Skull is something for you. With only 10 SMD parts that are spread out over the PCB for easier soldering this kit is the ideal project to get your feet wet with.
All the SMD parts are of 1206 size (3.2×1.6 mm / 0.13×0.063 inch) which is the largest of the common SMD part sizes. You should be able to solder this with more or less any electronics soldering iron, you don't need any ultra fine tip for this kit.
When you have finished soldering all the parts and inserted a CR2032 battery (not included due to shipping regulations for products containing Lithium) the eyes of the skull will blink alternating. I built the first kit ten days ago and the eyes are still blinking.
The kit contains
A battery holder for CR2032 batteries
Two NPN transistors in SOT23 format
Two red LED, 1206 format
Two 4.7 uF capacitors, 1206 format
Two 2.2 MOhm resistors, 1206 format
Two 270 Ohm resistors, 1206 format
And a how-to-solder the kit instruction sheet.
