Yet Another Programming Shield kit? Yes. We saw what there was and decided to try and go one better. This is the only AVR programmer Arduino shield you’ll need, and I think you’ll see why. With this programming shield, you can use an Arduino, or Arduino Mega to:
How does that work? The Arduino software comes with an ArduinoISP sketch which allows an Arduino, correctly connected, to flash another AVR chip. With the use of other libraries like Attiny-core, this means you can use your Arduino and it’s IDE to program Attiny chips! This shield takes all the hassle out of connecting the wires, and with the simple use of a jumper cable, lets you program 8, 14, 20, and 28-pin chips with one easy-to-use zero insertion force (ZIF) socket!
Take your project to the next level! You don’t need another Arduino. You need just need another chip. You can get 5 digital or 3 analog i/o from a $2 Attiny85 running at 8-Mhz on a coin cell! Not enough? How about 11 digital or 8 analog from a $3 Attiny84? A full blown Atmega328 doesn't cost much more and can be run at 3V at 8 MHz without a crystal!
What you get:
Not sure about making a kit? We've made it as easy a possible to assemble. Check out the detailed instructions at Instructables.com. Nothing could be better than programming your next embedded project using a programming shield you built yourself!
This project was a recipient of a WyoLum Innovation Grant. If you want to learn more about how it was developed, visit http://makersbox.blogspot.com/2013/12/anatomy-of-small-open-source-hardware.html.
