What is it?

This MakerPals ISM330DHC IMU Sensor-Tile is a MEMS 6x IMU for Industrial, high accuracy, with Machine Learning powered by ST's State of Art technology. The ISM330DHCX has a 3-axis accelerometer capable of wide bandwidth, ultralow noise, and a selectable full-scale range of ±2/±4/±8/±16 g. The 3-axis gyroscope has an angular rate range of ±125/±250/±500/±1000/±2000/±4000 dps and offers superior stability over temperature and time along with ultralow noise. As it is iNEMO inertial module with embedded Machine Learning Core, it can be used in applications like predictive monitoring.

Why did you make it?

We often use Accelerometer or Gyroscope sensors in our projects, breakout boards are always a good option for utilizing the sensor's capabilities and modes. In market we found that many breakout boards are based on generic sensors like MPU650 or its series. Yes! We did find the breakout boards of the same sensor from Adafruit and Sparkfun, so our Sensor-Tile may not be new ;) Thus, we explored the IMU sensor offering from STMicroelectronics, it consist of a Programmable Finite State Machine to process data from accelerometer, gyroscope, external sensors and supports protocols like SPI and I2C. We engineered the IC and prepared its Breakout Board that supports power-up of 5V or 3.3V

What makes it special?

The Board features the STEMMAQT or QWIIC I2C Connector, enabling seamless integration of the sensor through the I2C Simple Plug-In Protocol. Additionally, the board offers header pins for SPI Configuration, facilitating user-defined interrupt operations for enhanced host functionality. The sensor-tile is compatible with Sparkfun's ISM330 library.
