🚀 System Configuration Example

• M920x: Up to 4 NVMe drives total
• M920q: Up to 3 NVMe drives total
• Plus: PCIe x4 slot usable for network cards, USB controllers, or a fifth NVMe drive using an adapter
• It is possible to install even a sixth drive in the WiFi slot. However, it requires a separate adapter, and it will work only with PCIe x1 lane speed.

⚠️ PCIe Bifurcation Required

To enable both NVMe slots (J1 & J2) and the PCIe x4 slot:

• You must solder two resistors on the motherboard to enable PCIe bifurcation
• Without the mod: Only J1 and the PCIe x4 slot will function
• This mod is safe and reversible with basic soldering tools, more details in the documentation

🔧 Optional Upgrade Brackets

Complete your M920 build with these custom 3D-printed brackets designed to work with the PCIe riser:

• 💨 35 mm Rear Fan Bracket – mounts a rear fan to improve airflow over NVMe and SATA drives.
• 💾 mSATA Drive Bracket – replaces the 2.5" SSD tray to save space and fit a small mSATA SSD.

These brackets help maximize cooling and storage flexibility while keeping your build compact and tidy.

⚠️ Installation Warning

The riser must be installed exactly as shown in the reference photo. Pay close attention to the alignment of the pins in the socket with the pads on the riser board — the pins should sit in the center of each pad.

In some cases, it is possible to insert the riser misaligned, which can cause permanent damage to the board or host system.

Once correctly inserted, the riser should not move.
For additional security, it can be fastened using the spacer from the hardware kit and the screw left over from removing the Wi-Fi antenna.
