This breakout board mounts the SH1106 1.3inch OLED module and provides convenient header pins for power, ground, reset, address, and the I²C bus. It is supplied fully assembled.
Originally I designed my OLED Front Panel Module board to accommodate a small-outline display board I found on Aliex, but soon afterwards the seller stopped selling them and I ran out of stock. Faced with a potential redesign to some other display, I decided instead to recreate the same board shape myself.
It is much similar in functionality to any of the similar sorts of breakout boards you'll find on eBay, Aliexpress, etc... except that this one is designed to be as small as possible. The board is the same outline size as the display glass itself, minimizing the amount of wasted space around the display. This allows you to mount buttons or other controls up closer to the active display area of the screen, close enough to use the display as a label for "soft-function" buttons.
This effect can be seen for example on my own OLED Front Panel Module which mounts two pushbuttons just under the display.
