A switch-mode driver for LED string. You can use the charger of your phone or a scrap 3-18V power supply to power a LED string with an adjustable brightness level. The product comes fully assembled and tested - no soldering required (this used to be a kit which required soldering but not anymore).
The board has a micro-USB connector for power; you can also solder the wires directly to pads on the PCBs. A power supply is not included.
The LED string is connected to the wire terminal on the other side of the board - basically you just need to strip the wires and push them in. You can buy a LED string to go with this product from the right side menu or get a battery powered LED string from eBay and then remove the battery box.
I created this because I wanted an easy way to create decoration lights in any colour using old phone chargers and other scrap power supplies. I also didn't like the fact that you can't adjust the current on most commercial LED strings. They are often too bright, killing the mood and consuming a lot of electricity.
You can now buy a 2 meters long LED string to go with the driver for $3. The strings have a beautiful design with thin wires and SMD leds connected in parallel and dipped in resin. The spacing between the LEDs is 10 cm. For more information you can take a look at this video by Big Clive (not affiliated).
