Kurt's Dead Band is an audio/CV manipulation tool for AE Modular, homemade with tons of love by Keurslager Kurt. In the kit you will find everything you need to make your own 1U Dead Band module, you only need a soldering iron and some solder. The build is very beginner friendly, with only through-hole components. If this is one of your first builds and you're afraid you might mess up, give me a sign with your order (or via instagram/facebook/AEModularforum) and I'll drop in some spare components so you have room for error!
Do you have loads of components at home, or you would like to source them yourself? Well then you are in luck, you can also buy the PCB + Frontpanel for a discount, or even just the PCB if you like DIY-ing your own beautiful version as a frontpanel. Check out the BOM for which components you need, be sure to check the wattage of the resistors, as 1/4W resistors will be a hard fit on the board (most need to be 1/8W, you can do it with 1/4W, but its not pretty). Be sure to drop me a line if you have any questions!
So what is the Dead Band's main feature exactly? In short, it snaps a certain range of voltages to one voltage in the center of the range. On audio it creates a kind of phaser-y sound on simple waveforms, and it 'thins' out more complex, noisey waveforms. On CV you can introduce horizontal parts, or sudden vertical bumps. You can control the range of the voltages being affected, and also the center of this range (this parameter is also controllable with CV). This makes it very adequate to make your patches breath through subtle variations, and with more extreme settings it even doubles down as an extra dirty VCA (like some special type of lowpassgate: changing volume and tone at once). You should definitely see this module as a basic, but unique building block. It's meant to give suprising and interesting results depending on what you feed it and how you adjust the settings.
Four inputs (can be both audio & DC/CV) that get actively mixed, but cannot be controlled seperately (much like the TW Mixer module's B input.)
Four CV inputs that get actively mixed (can be at audiorate, can be DC).

As I sell small amounts based in EU, shipping can be difficult/slow/expensive to overseas and non-EU countries. Please know that I really really really do my best to keep it as cheap but efficient as possible, but I cannot be held accountable for delays/lost packages. Please contact me if you want extra info on shipping (or anything really), or if you have ideas to make this part easier! If you are located in Belgium, near Ghent, and you want to pick up your order, let me know! I'll refund you the shipping costs in that case.
Also note that, as a one man business, I cannot promise to ship the same/next day after your order. But you can be sure I try to do it as fast as possible!
