This bluetooth breakout board features these profiles: HID, SPP, iAP, A2DP, OPP, AVRCP. It has a built-in antenna and is ready to plug into your project without any knowledge of bluetooth required. I have combined this module with a 300mA 3.3V LDO regulator so that it can be used with either 5V or 3.3V projects. In addition, there is a small blue LED that lights up when a connection is established and is dim when no connection is linked. It can be disabled if required for your application.

Communications to this module are over a standard UART serial port. TX, RX, CTS and RTS are all accessible. It works well with just RX and TX with no flow control too.

Since the 3.3V regulator is much larger than is required for this board, it can also be used to power other parts of your project. Both the 5V and 3.3V pins are accessible, so if you put 5V in, you can pull 3.3V out and use it for other parts of your project. This allows you to combine 5V and 3.3V components in your project if needed. If you just need to convert 5V to 3.3V and don't need bluetooth, you can use this board for that too.

I originally used this module for a keyboard interface over bluetooth for my project, but it supports many other profiles, including working with applications written for Apple devices. It works great as a HID keyboard interface in my project, allowing automated typing on the keyboard of my iPhone or Android.
