Read More…I designed a Esphome based controller to controll the flow valves in a german standard warm water floor heater. This product is used in conjunction with homeassistant and an esphome instance at your home. It can controll 12 DC Channels with 24V and measure 12x ds18b12 probes. i2C is broken out for a 0.96" OLED display. Which can be used for troubleshooting. As the controller is normally build inside a wall there is not much need for it later.
I wanted to measure the temperature of every outgoing and incoming water pipe and regulate the valves to efficently heat my house.
Its using mosfets for 24V valves and integrates fully into homeassistant. Design and Esphome-Code is open source and can be easily adopted and changed to your needs.
You will get 1x printed circuit board. Components, powersupply, valves and temperature probes are NOT included.
You will need the components from the BOM in the Github Repo. The dcdc module can be found on Aliexpress but you can also order it here in the options.
24V power supply capable of ~3A of current. Less if you are not using 12 Valves. The power supply needs a 5mm barrel jack output to be pluged into the board directly.
Heating valves with 230V AC are common and not compatible. You have to get 24V Valves. These are DC Valves with consume around 200mA when powered on.
To measure the in and outgoing pipes you can use wire and ds18b12 in To-92 package or you can order the waterproof ds18b12 which come with cables attached, but are quite overkill and expensive.
The code is published on Github here: Github Repo
You can also just copy the code, or clone the repo.
You can also build this github code directly online and flash it with a usb-serial adapter on the board using this website Github Automatic Build
