A Mini Oscilloscope Clock made with a blue phosphor 2" round CRT (cathode ray tube). Homemade, not a commercial product. This measures about 5.5" W x 6" H x 9" D. The clear acrylic shroud is not attached but sits loosely on top of the plexiglass base. The board has pots to adjust vertical & horizontal height/width, focus, astigmatism, brightness, and vertical and horizontal centering. Automatically sets for 50/60HZ. The display alternates every ten seconds between digital and analog style. The display also moves slightly every six seconds to help prevent "burn in" of the CRT. The microcontroller can be exchanged (it is socketed) and all components are replaceable/repairable, as opposed to modern electronic devices which are basically "throwaways". This "old school" tech has been salvaged from obsolescence by marrying it to new digital tech. It is an entirely homemade/handmade product, including the base and shroud, which I thermoform from plexiglass stock, and the firmware the microcontroller is programmed with, which is my own original code. It can be set for 120VAC (U.S. standard) or 240VAC (some other countries.)

I became interested in electronics at age ten, after having seen the Apollo program and realizing the integrated circuits (chips) used in NASA's space program were produced by Texas instruments and surplus chips were sold at the local radio shack !
