What is it?

This is a custom made electronic badge wearable for Star Trek fans or #badgelife collectors. Either attach the phaser to a #badgelife supported SAO 1.69bis connector or wear it as a pin using a coin cell battery for power (the latter is still in works).

Why did you make it?

The v1 phaser was very cool, but wanted to take this version to a different level. Using sideview and shine down LEDs to illuminate through the PCB, used side view LED to illuminate the barrel, and the visual tracer across the top, also removed parts such as the switch to reduce foot print, and changed the color from green to blue. From an artistic standpoint, using LF HASL to provide a more realistic look of the type-2 phaser from ST:TOS.

What makes it special?

This has been a passion project of mine during the lockdown to make the badge SAO visually pleasing and as accurate as possible for a PCB to emulate a TV series prop. We can both enjoy it together. :)
