For sale are full parts kits for Glitch Works XT-IDE rev 4 controllers, including PC board. These kits are intended for the vintage computer hobbyist who already has a grasp of soldering and wishes to assemble their own XT-IDE rev 4 controller. All required parts are included, you supply the solder and tools. If you would like just the bare board (you supply all components), please see our other listings. Fully assembled and tested controllers are also available.
Component selection may differ slightly from those pictured.
You can read more about this revision of the XT-IDE controller, its development, and its features at the project page on our site:
This project is 100% open source hardware, licensed under the GNU GPL v3. You can find the source files for the board layout, schematics, jumper setting diagrams, and a complete Bill of Materials on the GitHub page (use the design files link).
This is a new made, high quality PC board with the following features:
The XT-IDE works with the XT-IDE Universal BIOS, another completely open source project, to provide IDE hard disk support for vintage computers with 8-bit IDE busses. These include the IBM 5150 PC, IBM 5160 PC/XT, and many compatible clones.
Note that due to a higher than typical percentage of DOA AT28C64B EEPROMs, we're now shipping kits with EEPROMs pre-programmed with the XT-IDE Universal BIOS v1.1.5 configured for I/O at 0x300 (default).
We do combine shipping on multiple orders, just request an invoice at checkout!

Hardware hacker, vintage computer hobbyist, backend software programmer, and embedded designer/programmer with a strong background in both digital and analog electronics. This is the official Glitch Works Tindie store, accept no imitations! Most of our new designs are open source projects targeted at hobbyists -- this is a hobby first, but lots of people seem to want to build these projects, so they're offered up as bare boards, parts kits, and fully assembled+tested.
