This device allows a high current load like a solenoid, a pump, or LED lights to be turned on and off depending on the value of the PWM signal it receives. It is specifically designed to work with the standard 50Hz PWM typical on a variety of things from drones to RC planes to robots. It is NOT a solid state relay, instead it utilizes a high current P-Channel MOSFET; this increases the current that it can handle, but requires the input and output to be wired correctly and have the input voltage be in the range of 5v to 20v with respect to the ground pin of the pre-attached servo cable.
I made this while working on an afterburner setup for an electric RC jet. I needed a way to control the solenoid for the propane and turn on the stun gun to ignite the fuel. I looked around and found that many used N-Channel MOSFETs which would would have to interrupt the ground, which is not ideal, and others used mechanical relays which are not well suited for harsh conditions. Knowing this, I began looking into how much parts would cost to build such a device that interrupts positive voltages and can handle a lot of amps. What I found was I could make one for a competitive price compared to other units and it would check all the boxes I wanted in a load switch.
This load switch uses a high current P-Channel MOSFET for interrupting positive voltages unlike some other units that interrupt ground. Other effects of using a MOSFET are it decreases size, increases current carrying capabilities, and allows for no moving parts.
