Here's our custom made PCB Moxon Antenna. We designed this to go together with our FPV HAT.
We found that we wanted a cheap, lightweight and efficient directional antenna for use with our FPV HAT on the "receive" side. A Moxon-style antenna fits the bill. The Moxon is actually just a dipole and one reflector/passive-element both having their ends folded. This rectangular shape lends itself well to PCB manufacturing which in turn gives good predictability and repeatability of the final product. On the downside, compared to a copper-wire antenna, there are some slight (approx 1-1.5 dbi) losses due to the higher dielectric constant of the FR4 PCB material.
The Moxon is only moderately directional and is therefore recommended for medium range FPV projects. OTOH it will pick up signal from "behind" as well.
Please note that the "front" of the antenna is where the SMA connector is mounted. The antenna is linear polarized in the plane of the PCB. I.e. if you place the antenna vertically, it will be vertically polarized.
This antenna is recommended for the 868 Mhz version of the FPV HAT.
