What is it?

A user interface module for the RC2014 computer system. It provides VGA video and PS/2 keyboard interfaces, to allow the RC2014 to be used as a stand alone computer.

It also has a FTDI standard serial interface, used for programming the Parallax Propeller MCU which provides the processing for the interfaces. This serial interface can also be used for operating the RC2014.

Why did you make it?

This module provides advanced video capabilities and a keyboard interface for the RC2014.

What makes it special?

It uses a Parallax Propeller to provide the video and keyboard interfaces. It is programmable and will be updated with further capabilities over time. The user is also encouraged to clone the github repository, and then build their own software, using the Propeller IDE for development. The Propeller IDE is available for all platforms (Windows, MacOS, Linux), and is an integrated editor, compiler, and ROM programming tool.

Ordering Options

This is the UX Module Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Only.

The UX Module PCB is also designed as an introduction to simple SMD soldering. But, as an option, pre-soldered SMD is available.

The 74HC4078 NOR Gate is available as an option as these devices are hard to find in small quantities.
