A microprocessored version of the classic buzz wire, a test of steady hands. In an easy to make kit ideal for teaching soldering as a first kit or as part of a bigger project.
An always on design with its own battery. Shorting the wires produces a pleasant warbling tone from the piezo sounder and alternating flashing LED's. If the unit is left with shorted wires, it will auto switch off.
Designed to be mounted with a large wobbly wire and a loop with a handle to make the classic buzz wire game. The rest is up to the builder I could be small or HUGE lots of possibilities for creative design.
Although the wire is not provided in this kit, it is very easy to manufacture from any stiff wire e.g. coat hangers, mains cable or for a really impressive display 1" copper piping and soldered angle joints.
I made it to broaden the range of starter circuits for kids after using something similar in my own kids group for a while.
The design is based around a cheap microprocessor PIC12F675 (or PIC12F508,PIC12F509, and many others with some code changes) The noises and its operation can easily be changed to further show the design process.
