PC fans are cheap, quiet, and powerful, so they're useful in any project that requires ventilation. With the PC Fan Power Breakout Board, you can power 4 PC fans directly from a 5.5mm x 2.1mm positive-center barrel jack supply, like this one. There's no need to cut and splice wires, just plug the fans into the board with their standard connectors. The board also features screw terminal access to power, fan, tach, and PWM signals, so you can provide or receive power and monitor and control fan speed. Here is an example Arduino sketch for controlling fan speed with PWM.
Use with a 12VDC regulated supply with a current rating greater than the sum of your fan currents. For example, if you want to drive 4 fans that draw 0.25A each, you need a supply that can provide at least 4*0.25A = 1A. See the datasheet for full connection details.
