Read More…The HP45 connector is a pogo pin based, surface mounted connector that is used to connect reliably and robustly to the 52 connector pads on the HP45.
Scope of delivery
Per 1 connector you will get:
1 Assembled HP45 connector (1 housing, 52 springs, 52 pins);
1 backstop to keep all these pins in place (with M3 nut and M3x6 screw);
5 additional pins and springs, in case you lose a pin (quantity in photo not correct!);
2 #6 x 3/8" screws to mount the connector to the PCB;
2 Resin washers to get the right depth for the screws;
Instructions
The HP45 connector needs the included footprint (or something similar, 1.3mm pads under each spring). This footprint works best on a gold plated, 1.6mm PCB, since the springs will contact the PCB directly, and are not soldered in place. 3 1.5mm unplated holes are used to index the connector. Either the 2 small inner holes (2.8mm) or the big center hole (3.8mm) can be used to fasten using M3 or M4. Parts are provided to use the 2x 2.8mm holes.
For a detailed set of instructions on how to mount this connector without it falling apart, go to the following link.

Important
Do not over tighten the #6 screws, or you'll risk tearing out the thread the screws make. Other options for mounting if that happens are 3.5ish mm wood or plastic screws.
Tips
Once the back cover is off, distract yourself with nothing other than placing the connector in its intended place. Dropping or bumping this connector will lead to unscheduled disassembly of the pins and springs, ruining your day.
Use gold plated PCB's for this connector. Tin plated pads might protrude too much or give poor contact.

The information available includes: dimensional drawings of the connector, KiCAD files of the footprint (including 3D file) and schematic symbol. All information on the connector is found below or can be downloaded from here.
Please note that this product is only the connector. The PCB and carrier for the printhead are still needed if you want to drive an HP45 printhead.
