What is it?

The YM2608 music module with IC test socket allows you to easily test all functions of YM2608+YM3016.

Why did you make it?

I was mass producing MSX OPNA Makoto sound cards and this project required a fully functional YM2608+YM3016 chip before soldering, so I made this tester which allows you to quickly change the chip without soldering or tweezers.

What makes it special?

It comes with two IC test sockets, so the functions of the two chips can be tested separately. By playing different music, you can distinguish the functions for these chips, such as many YM2608 cannot play ADPCM correctly, then you will find it quickly. There are also some YM2608 without SSG sound. In short, YM2608 and YM3016 were discontinued 40 years ago, and all the chips came from dismantling recycled circuit boards, so there are many damaged chips, and we need to find them in advance.
