This product, when plugged into your computer, will enumerate as two virtual com ports with only one USB cable! These ports can be used to send serial data to and from 5V and 3.3V electronics. Also, this device is extremely useful for doing loop back testing for development of desktop applications.
This product uses the same Silabs drivers as the popular CP2101,2,3...
This is a great alternative to FTDI based products!
This product was developed as an aid for my own debugging and development purposes. This product allowed me to communicate with multiple serial devices without crowding my desk with excessive USB cables. This product is great for monitoring more than one UART on a microcontroller. For instance, it is possible to have a serial debug/ programming port and a separate port to deliver commands. Also, this tool has RTS and CTS handshaking lines available which can be used in more complex serial communication schemes or as GPIO.
This device is special because it is a dual serial converter which only needs one USB cable. Other devices such as the FT232 only create one virtual com port. Additionally, this device has CTS and RTS handshaking lines broken out. Also, this product has a solder jumper which can be used to set the signal voltage levels between 3.3V and 5V making it compatible with 5V devices such as Arduino, or 3.3V devices such as Raspi and BeagleBone.
