Read More…At last! The mighty Rockit is here! Rockit (rocket operation computing kit) is a compact and inexpensive flight computer designed for small model rockets and water rockets. Rockit is a powerhouse featuring an RP2040 dual-core microcontroller, altimeter, accelerometer, data-logging to a microSD card, battery charger and powerful electronics capable of delivering 3A at 5V to actuate two servo motors. All these impressive features are integrated into a high-quality and compact circuit board weighing only 5 grams!
Operating Rockit is easy, connect your battery and servo motors and you are ready to go! Rockit comes with firmware already installed. The firmware can be easily uploaded by pressing the button while connecting Rockit to a PC with a micro-USB cable. That’s right! No more need for clunky external programmers, simply drag and the firmware file to the flight computer flash memory! Or if you want to write your own firmware, I got you covered too. The firmware is opensource, you can just check GitHub and modify it to suit your needs. To upload the firmware, you can simply use the Arduino IDE as this board will be recognized as a Raspberry Pi Pico.
Here are some Rockit characteristics: • Measures 44 mm x 22 mm x 9 mm (1.73” x 0.90” x 0.35”mm) without pin headers soldered in • Weight - 5 grams • RP2040 dual 32-bit Cortex M0 cores running at 133 MHz, 3.3V logic. • 264 kB RAM • 2 MB SPI FLASH chip for storing files and CircuitPython code storage • USB native support, bootloader in ROM • 3.3V regulator with 500mA current output • 5V boost converter with 2A current output (for driving servos). • Soft-start circuitry to limit inrush current at startup. • Built in 500mA li-po charger with charging status indicator LEDs. • Altimeter based on the MS5637 • Accelerometer configured to measure up to 22.6 g along the main axis of the rocket and 16g perpendicular to it • Compact 4 kHz piezo buzzer • Low-battery LED indicator • Status LED indicator • 16-position rotary switch, useful for adjusting user settings such as the servo motor start and end positions
The Rockit package includes a fully assembled and tested flight computer as well as pin headers. The battery, battery cable, USB cable, micro-SD card and servo motors are not included.
Note: Rockit is an experimental device. DanInvents is not liable for the failure and/or misuse of the flight computer and any possible damage or harm that the device might cause.
