PD Buddy Wye is a tiny (25×20 mm) circuit board that turns one USB Type-C upstream-facing port into two: one for USB 2.0 data, and one for USB Power Delivery. This allows users of the PD Buddy Sink to see what voltages and currents their power supplies can provide, and negotiate new power in real time.
Since it's just a passive splitter, there's nothing about the Wye that's specific to any particular device. I sometimes use it for other things, like fast-charging a smartphone with a wall charger while transferring files by USB 2.0.

While developing firmware version 1.1 for the PD Buddy Sink, I needed to plug the device into both my computer and a standalone power supply at once. With standard cabling, that's not possible, so I designed this board to enable me to do that.
The combination of a PD Buddy Sink and Wye makes a very inexpensive way of verifying a USB PD charger's capabilities. This is important because there are so many chargers on the market that don't comply with the power rules in the USB PD standard. This makes the unfortunate reality that not every P watt USB charger can fully power every device that needs ≤ P watts. Other options for reading a USB charger's capabilities cost hundreds of dollars, so the Sink+Wye combination makes it affordable to check that your power supply can really do what it's supposed to.
