This replacement Hot End Cartridge allows you to use the highly-rated E3D hot end in your da Vinci 1.0 Pro (or Pro 3-in-1) printer without having to modify your printer's hardware.
I originally designed this cartridge when my original stock nozzle cartridge got a nasty clog. At the time, there were no replacement cartridges available from the manufacturer, but I saw that other owners of this printer had been modifying their printers to use the E3D V6 hot end. I also modified my printer to use an E3D V6 style hot end, and I really liked the ease of use of the E3D V6 hot end with its modular design and replaceable/upgradeable nozzles. However, I missed the ease of removal/insertion of the stock hot end, and I also wanted the potential ability to buy/use the da Vinci Pro's laser engraver upgrade.
After using this design for some time, I decided to also try it with E3D's Lite6 hot end. The Lite6 hot end also functions very well in the da Vinci 1.0 Pro printer. For a comparison of the E3D V6 versus E3D Lite6 hot ends read through E3D's page for the Lite6 hot end at this link. Or, read through this E3D Blog post.
If you primarily print PLA or PLA based filaments I recommend choosing the E3D Lite6 hot end. This will give you more control over retraction settings for a better print. With the E3D V6 hot end I find I need to keep retractions low (under 3mm) to prevent clogging -- this can lead to a fair amount of post-print clean-up.
Though I have made the design for the printed parts of this product available on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1328848), I sell these cartridges completely assembled and tested so you can simply swap your stock nozzle cartridge for one of these, adjust the printer's z-offset as per my included instruction sheet and get back to printing very quickly.
I hand assemble these cartridges and run test prints in my own printer before shipping to ensure they are working properly.
