PLEASE NOTE: I am nearly out of stock of these tubes, but I also have near-identical SBM-20 tubes available. They are drop-in replacements in most circuits, as they have a wider range of operating conditions than the STS-5.
This is a Geiger-Muller tube, for detecting beta and gamma radiation using a Geiger counter circuit.
The STS-5 is a robust, reliable, and compact Geiger tube produced in the USSR during the Cold War. It's reasonably sensitive for its size, giving me about 20 counts per minute background radiation (in London, UK). It is almost identical in size and operating parameters to the popular SBM-20 tube, and the two are interchangeable in most circuits.
These tubes are new old stock. I currently only have unboxed ones left. Every tube tested before dispatch. Shipped from the UK.
Supplied with data sheets in English and Russian. I can also give pointers to Geiger counter circuits that work well with this tube.
