This absolutely tiny 8-position breadboard indicator has an onboard 220Ω resistor. It has 8 green 2.1V forward voltage LEDs that are rated at 20mA. With the resistor, that gives it 5.5mA at 3.3V or 12.2mA at 5V.
The single picture showing all 8 lights of the indicator lit up demonstrates the difference between 3.3V and 5V.
It makes no assumption as to where the common cathode/ground connection is, so the common cathode connection is on a separate wire that can be connected whenever needed.
I was sick of dealing with discrete LEDs and resistors as well as the amount of breadboard space I was wasting whenever I had to test circuits on a breadboard. I needed something slim enough to fit up against the power rail on my breadboards without blocking it.
This is exactly the size it needs to be, and no larger. Fully assembled, it clocks in at 0.82" x 0.28" — a smaller diameter than a quarter — and hangs over the pin header by 0.2". It also provides improved ease of use as you only have one part to deal with instead of 16.
